Global report on neglected tropical diseases 2026: mid-term evaluation of the road map implementation

Overview

This report presents the findings of the mid-term evaluation of the road map for neglected tropical diseases 2021–2030, which sets global targets for the control, elimination and eradication of 21 diseases and disease groups. The evaluation reviewed implementation and impact during 2021–2025. It combined analysis of 71 global indicators reported by Member States with a structured assessment of the road map’s 11 dimensions, informed by more than 350 experts, programme managers, policy-makers, researchers and partners.

The report measures progress on the overarching and cross-cutting indicators since the baseline, reviews five years of action under each of the road map’s three pillars and describes progress in all six WHO regions. Updated summaries for each disease and disease group include an assessment of remaining gaps compared with the 2020 baseline. The report also presents data for the 2024 reporting period, identifies the main risks to reaching the 2030 targets and sets out strategic priorities for 2026–2030.
